Hydrogen refueling: Climate-friendly on the road with green hydrogen
Hydrogen as an alternative fuel is already suitable for everyday use. Especially in the field of heavy-duty transportation - for trucks and buses. At our depot, hydrogen can be refueled in gaseous form at 350 bar (trucks, buses), 700 bar and 500 bar (cars, waste collectors, light commercial vehicles).
Good reasons for hydrogen
Companies today face the challenge of decarbonizing their fleets in order to achieve climate and sustainability goals. Hydrogen offers a practicable solution for this: it enables climate-friendly mobility without changing the usual operational processes. Thanks to simple refueling and long ranges, trucks and buses can be used as usual.
Advantages of hydrogen
Emissionsfrei fahren
When driving a hydrogen vehicle, virtually no CO₂ emissions are produced. All that is emitted is evaporated water.
Kurze Betankungszeiten
A hydrogen truck refuels in less than 15 minutes. This allows for flexible use even on longer routes.
Stabile Reichweiten
Depending on the tank size and vehicle type, a vehicle can travel up to 800 km without the outside temperature affecting performance.
Hohe Energiedichte
Hydrogen stores a large amount of energy in a small space. This makes it particularly attractive for use in public transport and logistics (buses and trucks).
Ressourcenschonend
Compared to battery-electric trucks, hydrogen trucks are nearly 3 tons lighter. Their construction requires significantly fewer additional materials.
Öffentliche Infrastruktur
For logistics and transport companies, refueling at a public hydrogen station incurs no investment or maintenance costs for operating their own station.
FAQ on hydrogen
The only notable difference is the state of aggregation: it is refueled as a gas, not as a liquid. Otherwise, hydrogen is filled up in almost exactly the same way as petrol: customers drive up to a public filling station, open the fuel filler flap, plug in the nozzle - and press a start button.
- Long range: As with diesel vehicles, long distances are possible without any problems (up to 800 km for trucks).
- Short refueling time: A truck can be fully refueled in less than 15 minutes. This is significantly faster than charging large batteries and enables flexible route planning.
- No payload restrictions: The low weight of the H2 components ensures that the payload is not significantly reduced compared to diesel trucks.
Hydrogen vehicles (fuel cell vehicles) only emit water vapor while driving. With green hydrogen, up to 90 percent of CO2 emissions can be saved compared to diesel trucks - from fuel production to operation on the road ("well-to-wheel")
The use of a public hydrogen filling station means above all considerable cost savings for companies. They do not have to make any investments of their own for the construction and operation of a hydrogen filling station on their premises.
